Looking towards the future and at the timeline above its ironic considering the circular nature that history, and the art of sound recording have taken. Immediately after Edison's invention the first recordings were personal messages, many were phonogram letters from Edison to friends and colleagues around the world. 125 plus years later and sound recording has again returned to its deeply personal roots. More and more bedroom studios will appear as personal computing increases in power and decreases in cost, the productive results of these studios will be traded via highspeed networks near instantly. And the art of sound will return to the art of personal conversation which characterized its early years.
